Artist's Comments

A small origami crane. Not the smallest, but small nonetheless. (For comparison, that coin is about 1 inch). Any and all comments welcome.

Wow, that is tiny! What did you use to get the folds? I've done pretty small ones using toothpicks but not this small.

When in doubt, follow your fish
Toothpicks should do it.. I used a pointy can opener (like in [link] , the one counter-clockwise of the knife on the right), but only because it was all I could find/think of. And thanks for the comments! :-)
Wow, I didn't even know something like that was possible. I can't even get normal-sized ones to look right.
I know! I did a fair bit of other origami models for fun, like a finger trampoline, a boat, a rose and a foldable box, but I couldn't do the basic crane! This was about the third crane I did in total.
It's weird, seeing as how I could make buffalo, cat's heads, penguins, and frogs, yet I could never make a crane! (I guess those are all fairly simple when compared though...)

How did you go about making such a tiny thing?
Same way you'd make a normal model, just smaller ;-) I used a bottle opener for some of the tricker parts, but for the rest I just used my fingers.

Well, it really is amazing! Are you going to try and make any other small pieces?
Yeah, I was thinking about that. I was thinking I could post a series on my site blahbleh.com or flickr or something (and deviantART, too)... but I tried a different model and couldn't do it! I suppose I'd better keep trying...
